71% of the minimum is reached and I feel so grateful to all the donors. Stitching the names is an act of recognition and gratitude, an activity I enjoy deeply.
Last week I offered a workshop on NVC to young people that are participating in a program for job placement with the aim of raising their assertiveness. Their personal situations were vulnerable. Among them two young women from Latin America, sisters with the 5-year-old daughter of one of them. The three live together as a small family, supporting each other. “Care”, “Love, Friendship” were the need cards they chose, “Play” and “Movement” the ones their daughter chose. We spoke about the meaning these needs have in their lives.
In the final round one sister mentioned the workshop had been useful to recognize that she had needs too. Her sister expressed that she felt more self-confident, that what she thought and said might matter.
Arcoiris is an expression of creating a world I want to live in, where socially vulnerable and exposed people have support to access trust in themselves and the power to care for themselves.
