Printing of boxes and booklets
Cost of the printing of the boxes and booklets in digibook four-part matt laminated with 4/4 INTERIOR LOMES PRINTING, 40-page booklet and cover: matt laminated exterior. Shrink-wrapping: 800 € + VAT + 5.8% (Fundación Goteo y transacciones).
Production and manufacture of 3 CDs (VAT included)
This part of the budget refers to the physical process of editing and recording the discs in the factory. We have no mastering costs because the musician from San Sebastian MIKEL AZPIROZ, who participates in this Volume II with a beautiful individual track and as pianist of the song "A Better Day" by TRAVELLIN' BROTHERS, has altruistically and unselfishly taken care of this technical part, achieving a brilliant result. We recommend that when you listen to these records you turn up the volume on your music device so that you can appreciate this work to the fullest extent.
Additional distribution costs
Costs derived from the shipping, distribution, transport of the discs to the buyers and the musicians who have collaborated with their songs. It should be taken into account that most of them reside in the USA, so shipping will have a significant cost.
Legal deposit, barcode, licenses for digital distribution of 44 songs and transport of the entire production to Club44 headquarters.
Once the final product has been produced, the songs have been mastered, the discs have been edited and the boxes have been printed and assembled, there are a series of legal costs that must be met in order to comply with all the regulations that affect this type of process.
Expenses incurred by the payment made by donors through the Paypal gateway.
The increasingly widespread use of the Paypal platform as a payment method for online purchases makes it necessary to open up this possibility.
Concert to present the discs
The idea is to present the project, as we did with volume 1, at a concert in which several of the artists who have contributed songs to the albums would participate. This is an additional expense, as the main thing is to finance the albums. The budget is devoted entirely to the following concepts: paying for the travel expenses of the musicians who may come to the Basque Country; publicising the concert; the costs of the sound system of the venue where the concerts are held, etc. The approximate cost of this concept is 3500€, to which must be added the 4.6% commission from Goteo.
Basic remuneration for musicians
The aim is to compensate the musicians for their work, even if only minimally. Although the concert has a solidarity objective, they are professionals, and, as the saying goes, "it is well-born to be grateful". This amount is approximate, because it may vary depending on the musicians participating in the concert. The approximate cost of this concept is 2000€, to which must be added the 4.6% commission from Goteo.
Cost of obligated commissions
Cost of obligatory Goteo, Banc, paypal and transaction fees

CLUB44: MUSIC AND CULTURE
Club44 is a non-profit cultural association, open to the people of Gipuzkoa, which since 2014 has been organising acoustic concerts of so-called "American music" (folk, country, rock, blues) on an approximately monthly basis.
By type of music, most of the artists are Anglo-Saxon (USA, UK), although we also invite artists from other countries (from Aurora Beltrán to María Berasarte or Carmen París). So far we have organised 80 concerts in line with the cultural and solidarity objective of our association, including one of "street musicians", in the framework of the cultural capital of Donostia in 2016 (take a look at the video 👉 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrbLNWZ55gU), and two others to present Volume I of "Songs for Western Sahara".
THE WESTERN SAHARA. THE FIRST PROJECT (2018)
The president of Club44, Juan Soroeta Liceras, is a professor of International Public Law at the UPV/EHU, and an expert for more than 30 years in the Western Sahara conflict. For this reason, in 2018, it occurred to us to ask the artists to write a song about the Saharawi conflict, without knowing very well how they would react. Responding to their status as singer-songwriters, i.e. people who not only write and sing their own songs, but who are also socially committed, the response was exceptional. We managed to publish a double CD ("SINGING THROUGH THE WALL. SONGS FOR WESTERN SAHARA/CANTANDO A TRAVÉS DEL MURO. SONGS FOR WESTERN SAHARA") in a very nice box, with a booklet in which, in addition to the lyrics of the songs, the origin and situation of the Saharawi conflict was explained in Basque, Spanish, English and French. Listen to the list 👉 here.
The main purpose of the project is not to raise funds for a specific cause, but to DIFFUSE the situation of the Sahrawi people**. Although when the conflict is mentioned many people think of the refugee camps in Tindouf, Algeria, this project places special emphasis on the Sahrawi territories that remain under military occupation by Morocco since 1975, on the serious human rights violations they suffer in their own lands, and especially on the key role played by women in this activism that is so dangerous for their physical integrity.
To a large extent, this objective was achieved with the first volume, as the albums have been played on more than 60 radio stations throughout Europe. Among the Spanish ones, it is worth mentioning interviews in several programmes of Radio 3, Radio Nacional, Cadena SER, Radio Euskadi, Onda Vasca... and they have received excellent reviews from Spanish and foreign music magazines.
(here you can see a report in the famous rock magazine Ruta 66: https://www.ruta66.es/2018/12/encuentros/club-44-musica-con-conciencia/).
Thanks to the support of the city councils of Donostia-San Sebastián and Bilbao, in April 2019 we held two concerts to present the albums at the Teatro Principal of Donostia and Bilborock, with a great success of public (here you can see the presentation of the concert by the American musician Matt Harding and Juan Soroeta in the framework of the International Festival of Film and Human Rights of Donostia-San Sebastián: https://www. youtube.com/watch?v=RXzTqJlXkOc), with the participation of top level artists who participated in the first volume, and who also participate in the second (in this video you can see the interpretation of the Crosby, Stills & Nash classic "TEACH YOUR CHILDREN" by some of the musicians who participated in the concert: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7p-Ryj-H7o).
THE PROJECT WE PROPOSE
Taking advantage of the "good side" of the pandemic, if there is one, given the forced reclusion of the musicians in their homes, it occurred to us to ask them for new songs to make a volume II of the 2018 project. The response has exceeded all our expectations. No less than 44 artists and bands have contributed their songs to this volume II of "SINGING THROUGH THE WALL. SONGS FOR WESTERN SAHARA/CANTANDO A TRAVÉS DEL MURO. SONGS FOR WESTERN SAHARA", which has obliged us to distribute the songs on 3 CDs, with a new booklet, with a cover by JULIO VILLAR, a well-known Donostia character, which contains a current explanation of the conflict in the four languages, as well as the lyrics of the songs.
It is important to highlight that all the artists who participate in the project contribute their songs altruistically and disinterestedly, which given their professional level demonstrates the interest that the project has awakened in such a supportive community as the musicians. The artistic level achieved in this second volume is going to be the key for these songs to be played on music stations all over the world, and for news about the situation in Western Sahara to reach the whole world.

Main features and goals of the crowdfunding campaign
This is a demonstration of support for the Sahrawi people, who live divided between those who suffer the violation of their most basic human rights in their own land, and those who do so in the refugee camps in Tindouf (Algeria) or in the diaspora.
If we are used to showing our support for just causes, such as that of the Sahrawi people, through street demonstrations, manifestos and so on, this is a different and novel way of showing support for these people through music, and through top international artists, which will bring concern for the situation home to fans of good music.
Its main objectives are: To
- To spread awareness of the situation suffered by the Saharawi people.
- To reach through music where the media often do not reach.
- To do so through culture, far from manifestos and communiqués, now more necessary than ever, after the resumption of the armed conflict.
A medium-term objective, if this project goes ahead, is to promote a third volume of songs. We want to give continuity to this project in the future, especially given the circumstances of the conflict.
As mentioned above, the aim is to spread the project around the world. We believe that this Volume II will be a success and that it will have a great diffusion, since the musicians themselves will participate in the campaign encouraging their fans to participate in it as well, achieving this main objective of diffusion not only in our country, but also in the Anglo-Saxon world, where Western Sahara is not very well known. If we reach this amount, we will finish the whole project, which is already underway (mastering of the songs, design and layout of the box, which will be super deluxe), and finally we will send everything to the factory that will be in charge of manufacturing it and uploading the songs to the digital platforms.
Why this is important
Club44 is a non-profit cultural association, so we do not intend to obtain any economic benefit, beyond covering expenses, so that we can meet one of our main objectives: the social, awareness of citizenship .
This is a different way of bringing the situation of the Sahrawi people to the heart of the people. The enthusiastic reaction of the music world, of top artists in cities as far away from the conflict as Nashville, New York or Montreal, who have written a song and paid a recording studio to support this cause, makes this project something really beautiful, in which solidarity, music and enormous amounts of affection come together.
By participating in this crowdfunding campaign you will connect directly with the reality of the Saharawi people and, in addition, given the high musical level of this project, you will surely get hooked on these musicians, and you may even be encouraged to become a member of Club44, for which no entrance fee is required. All lovers of good music are welcome. Some of the rewards we have planned for donors are aimed at compensating you with tickets to several concerts so that, before you decide to become a member, you can see the charm of the Club and its commitment to the Saharawi cause.
His career as an academic involved in all legal aspects of the Saharawi people's struggle for self-determination guarantees the seriousness of this project.
Club44 was created in 2013.
Since then, it has demonstrated its commitment and ability to organise concerts, support independent musicians, and also support social causes, including that of Western Sahara.
The first volume of the project "SINGING THROUGH THE WALL. SONGS FOR WESTERN SAHARA/CANTANDO A TRAVÉS DEL MURO. CANCIONES PARA EL SAHARA OCCIDENTAL" (SINGING THROUGH THE WALL. SONGS FOR WESTERN SAHARA) is an endorsement of our solidity in taking this new project forward.
Club44 operates autonomously, with no financial support other than that of the 80-90 members who contribute their dues to its maintenance.
In 2016, coinciding with the cultural capital of Donostia, Club44 organised a concert of musicians who usually play in the streets of the city, to support this very special guild and bring it closer to the general public.
