Apoyando la comunidad de Los Guineos

El proyecto educativo Música Maestro forma parte de un proyecto comunitario más grande llamado Proyecto Social La Cuchilla. Fue impulsado hace más de 10 años por Anna Maria Ollé, cooperante catalana que hace más de 20 años que vive en el país. El objetivo del proyecto es dar recursos y crear tejido social para solucionar, prevenir y educar a las personas, con el fin de que ellas mismas lideren el desarrollo de la comunidad.

 

El Proyecto Social La Cuchilla tiene la misión de fomentar y sostener acciones surgidas de la comunidad que mejoren las condiciones de vida y la educación de los habitantes de la zona de Los Guineos, en la Repúlica Dominicana.

 

Los Guineos es una zona rural aislada que pertenece al municipio de Yamasá, en el extremo oeste de la província de Monteplata, en el interior del país. La zona de Los Guineos comprende 9 comunidades repartidas a lo largo de un radio de 10 km y que viven mayoritariamente de la agricultura.

 

La zona queda muy apartada de su centro administrativo y la única carretera que hay es de tierra, está muy deteriorada y el transporte público és prácticamente inexistente. Este aislamiento geográfico afecta muy negativamente al desarrollo económico de la zona, y el acceso de sus habitantes a accesos a recursos básicos como la medicina, la educación y los servicios de la administración pública.

 

La pobreza y el aislamiento los hace más vulnerables porque muchas veces no tienen recursos para enfrentar los problemas que surgen. Una situación que sería relativamente fácil de superar, o incluso trivial para una persona con recursos, puede fácilmente desencadenar en una serie de problemas más graves. Eso atrapa las familias en los ciclos de pobreza.

 

El Proyecto Social La Cuchilla crea tejido social y conecta la comunidad con recursos externos para resolver problemas immediatos. Proporcionamos arroz enriquecido a una mujer líder de la comunidad que cocina para todo el que lo necesite; hemos suplido de gasas, sábanas y medicamentos en centro médico rural; damos atención sanitaria a enfermos, ancianos y personas con necesidades especiales; y también hemos ayudado a algunas famílias a construir viviendas.

 

Además de resolver necesidades básicas immediatas, también hacemos campañas y acciones de prevención. Hemos hecho operativos médicos para la detección precoz de enfermedades; hemos traido la Pastoral Materno infantil para prevenir la mortalidad neonatal; hemos tramitado la inscripción en el registro civil de más de 200 niños para prevenir las consecuencias de estar indocumentados en el futuro.

 

Pero uno de los campos de acción más importantes del proyecto es la educación. Queremos formar y estimular a las personas de la comunidad para empoderarlas, y que el día de mañana  sean ellas mismas las que lideren el desarrollo de la comunidad. Dentro del ámbito educativo tenemos una Escuelita de Estimulación Infantil, un punto de Internet para estudiantes, dos Rincones tecnológicos para que los jóvenes aprendan computación, y un programa de becas universitarias.
